Join AmeriCorps Seniors and bring out the best of America
Serve as a friend and companion to older neighbors making sure they can live in their own homes for as long as possible.
The Senior Companion program focuses on providing assistance and friendship to older adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. Through this program, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers keep seniors independent longer and provide respite to family caregivers. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers themselves report better health and longevity having served their community.

Meet Chanh Trung Vo

Chanh Trung Vo was born and raised in Vietnam and lived there with his wife and children until 1991. When political persecution and economic hardship made staying in Vietnam impossible, the Humanitarian Operation program relocated Vo and his family to the United States. They settled in Seattle, where Vo joined AmeriCorps Seniors in 1993. He has served as an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer in the Senior Companion program with Homage Senior Services for 25 years. Vo assists elder members of the Seattle Vietnamese community in aging with dignity in their own homes.
